Brooke Witcher works for the City of Lubbock as the Managing Director of Cultural Facilities and Special Events. She is the Director of the Municipal Museums (The Buddy Holly Center & The Silent Wings Museum) and has oversight of the Garden & Arts Center, Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, City Bank Coliseum/Auditorium, Wells Fargo Amphitheater and City Services for Special Events. Brooke began work for the City of Lubbock in January of 2003 as a full time program coordinator for the Garden & Arts Center. Since that time she has held various positions within the Cultural Arts departments of the City. In 2005, she began coordinating in-kind services for special events for the City. She works closely with local not-for-profit organizations to assist with special event planning held on City of Lubbock property. She offices at the Buddy Holly Center and enjoys all aspects of museum work and community service. Brooke earned a Masters degree in Museum Science from Texas Tech University in 2000. She volunteers with the Texas Aviation Heritage Foundation, Inc., United Way of Lubbock, Art of the Llano Committee, Museum of Texas Tech University Association, Broadway Festival, Inc., Ballet Lubbock, and the American Heart Association. She has served on the Lubbock County Historical Commission since 2009. Her passion for music developed at a young age and she is thrilled to play a role in continuing Buddy Holly’s legacy through educational programs and exhibitions in Lubbock, TX.
