From 2013 to 2018 the band released three albums, two of which charted Top 20 in the UK. Ross Farrelly, Josh McClorey, Pete O’Hanlon and Evan Walsh shared a passion for 1950s rock and roll and their breakout track ‘You Can’t Judge A Book’ was a Bo Diddley cover, an artist they discovered listening to Buddy’s Bo-influenced ‘Not Fade Away’. Buddy’s music was a constant on tour bus journeys with the lads loving his ‘edgier’ side – ‘Midnight Shift’, ‘Rock Around With Ollie Vee’ and ‘Well… All Right’ were particular favourites.
The Strypes toured all over the world playing iconic venues and festivals, their passion for music always fuelled by a love of true pioneering genius from greats like Buddy Holly. Love for real, not fade away…
