Richard Thompson

Inspired by guitarists like Buddy Holly, Richard Thompson co-founded the legendary folk group Fairport Convention in 1967, at the age of 18.

He left the group in 1971 to pursue diverse songwriting and session-playing interests.

As a virtuoso guitarist, Richard has been honoured in myriad ways, from a Mojo Les Paul Award for ‘Guitar Legend’ to an OBE from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and an Honorary Degree from the University of Aberdeen. It’s a remarkable career when your plaudits come from such varied places.
