John Mueller

Buddy Holly means a great deal to me. Learning his great songs was instrumental in my growth as a musician and singer.

His character and approach to life impressed me greatly. He was a gentleman, kind, soft spoken, yet straightforward and highly focused, all qualities I admire and aspire to. Buddy was for me a hero for the working class everyday type of person.

He wore glasses, he wrote his own music and performed it. He practised in a garage with Jerry Allison. He was the antidote to the glitzy Elvis personage. He pioneered the idea of a true rock and roll band, writing and creating songs as a group with each member adding their own input, something that The Beatles of course took note of and emulated.

His personal sincerity and honesty of character comes through his music. I am forever grateful for his beautiful, feel-good music legacy and the true character of Charles Hardin Holley.
