Dave Stewart

Dave Stewart was barely out of his teens when he got his first record deal. His folk-rock group Longdancer were the first act signed to Elton John’s Rocket label in 1973, but he did not have any commercial success until he co-founded the Tourists in 1977.

Three years later, he formed the Eurythmics with fellow Tourist Annie Lennox. Together, they enjoyed a string of hit albums and singles, including the US number one ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)’ and the UK number one ‘There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart)’. Like all successful musicians and writers, Dave Stewart is quick to acknowledge his early influences – including Buddy Holly.
