In partnership with Glenn Tilbrook and John Turner, Chris also created the 1983 musical Labelled with Love, based on Squeeze’s classic 1981 album East Side Story. The show ran for three months and sold out every performance along the way.
Squeeze reformed in 1985 with a different line-up. To date, some 24 musicians, including Jools Holland, Paul Carrack and former Attractions Pete Thomas and Steve Nieve, have stood in the band’s ranks during their different incarnations, but only Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook have remained constant members. They have released 15 studio albums with Squeeze and one as a duo.
Alongside his ongoing touring and recording with Squeeze, Chris has released five solo studio albums and from time to time curates shows at the Barbican Centre in London. For over 30 years, he has also hosted songwriting retreats, most notably for the Buddy Holly Educational Foundation, in Glastonbury, Somerset.
The Buddy Holly Educational Foundation is a registered charity in the United States and the United Kingdom, with a mission to extend musical education to new generations regardless of income or ethnicity or learning levels.
